Re: Humane Society business
Over the past few years, it has been difficult for me to watch and read about how far the Humane Society of Indianapolis, with roots dating back to 1905, has strayed from its original mission. You are now telling me that things are ok, but I need to be sure. In order to restore my trust in this institution and your efforts, please ensure that the following tasks are undertaken:
HSUS publishes a "Comparative Financial Summary" and makes its audited financial statements available to the public. Why not HSI?
Action: Public disclosure of these and other relevant HSI financial documents.
Verification that all monies spent by prior HSI staff on personal items have been repaid.
Action: Documented proof.
HSI has never publicly documented how it sustained over $8M in asset losses from the period 2000 to 2003, taking it from one of the most financially sound non-profits in this community to potential financial ruin.
Actions: Current board acknowledges poor governance to allow this to occur.
Public disclosure and detailed accounting of losses.
Resignation of all board members serving during this period.
I have made a donation supporting Move to Act's Rebuild Trust initiative.
